With Steve Daly and Andy Deaner injured, this
was never going to be an easy game. It wasn't, East Grinstead had
chances, but Alan Foster pulled off some good, if perhaps lucky
saves. Although the Rebels were poor in the first half, we gradually
began to take control of the game while never really getting into
Ian Hodges broke the deadlock when he
latched onto a cross from Glen Harris and headed home. More chances
fell to both sides but no goals was found before half-time.
Slough needed to improve over half-time or they
were going to find things difficult in the second half. They did
improve, but not by much.
Slough came out of the
tunnel eager to blow East Grinstead away, which they did with their
nice attacking football. Hyatt went close early in the second half
and Ian Hodge hit the post, but Slough managed to grab a second soon

Grinstead were really being pressureised by the Rebels attacking
style, and it really showed, Slough were forcing the East Grinstead
keeper into some fantastic saves.

that goal would be scored by their player, Garret headed over his
own keeper from a cross for 3-0 and the game.
Spencer got rewarded for his hard efforts with a goal, he fired the
ball past the keeper for 4-0.
A handball in the
East Grinstead area resulted in a penalty. Ian Hodges stepped up and
coolly converted from the spot for his hat-trick.
A good win, but not a brilliant performance.
