Rebels Win
by Nathan on 06/09/2003

A Match Report from today's win against Leatherhead.

Slough Town 3-1 Leatherhead

Date: 6/09/03
KO: 3:00 PM
Venue: Stag Meadow (Windsor & Eton FC)
Slough Goals: N Gyoury (1-0) T Boot (2-0) I Hodges (3-0)
Opponent Goals: Harrison (3-1)
Attendance: 306

1st Half

In a game that wasn't exactly outstanding, Slough were easily the better side throughout, although at times Leatherhead caught us off guard and perhaps should have done better. The highlight of the first half was when Nick Gyoury put us ahead on 41 minutes when he headed home an Alex Haddow corner.

2nd Half

Slough came out with a sense of renewed confidence. We were playing more attacking football and, although Tony Boot extended our lead early on in the second half, Slough should have taken more of their chances. Ian Hodge jumped over the ball when it ran across the goalmouth and Tony Boot missed an open goal, but the rest wasn't bad.

Tony Boot extended our lead almost immediately after the restart when Ian Hodge found Tony Boot who fired past the keeper.

Slough put the game beyond Leatherhead when Ian Hodges headed home from a cross. A video clip of this goal will be put on the Video Clips page shortly.

Leatherhead scored late on. I can't comment on this as I didn't see it clearly.
