The Rebels were hoping to increase their run of two straight
victories with a victory against top-of-the-table Lewes. Having just
scraping past bottom-of-the-table Corinthian-Casuals, this was
never going to be an easy match. Lewes had ex-slough 'keeper
Dominique Jean-Zepherin in goal.
Despite some early scares
Slough began to settle into the game while playing some good
football. Lewes had only one good chance at the beginning, luckily
for Slough they blasted it over the bar.
Slough took the lead after 35 minutes when an Alex Haddow cross
found Miller who headed home.
The Rebels doubled their lead 5 minutes later when Ryan Spencer,
after reclaiming the ball, passed it to Hodges who fired the ball
past his former team-mate.
2-0 up and coasting. That was until Lewes pulled one back. Slough conceded
a free-kick on the edge of the area. The kick went under the wall,
found Newman who hit it past Alan Foster.
Early on in the second half, Steve Daly picked up what looked
like a bad calf strain, so he was replaced by Michael Murphy.
Lewes equalised on the hour mark when Danny Davis pounced onto
the loose ball after a goalmouth scramble.
Lewes got the winner late on when Gyoury, instead of hitting out
for a throw-in, tried to flip the ball on his left foot whilst only succeeding
in giving the ball away for Danny Davis to run with the ball and hit
it past Alan Foster.
