Slough Town will have to go into a replay after a 2-2 draw at
home against Bishops Stortford.
Slough twice went ahead in the game, the first goal was scored as
early as the tenth minute. A tight shot from Ian Hodge was already
going into the net but their number six (Barnett) went sliding into
the ball, attempting to hit it out of play but actually ensured that
it went into the goal.
Bishops Stortford equalised later on when the ball was fired past
Then a contraversial goal was scored by Matt Miller. Alex Haddow
went down in midfield and immediately the Bishops Stortford players
assumed that the referee was going to stop play. He didn't. Slough
won the ball back through Matt Miller who then slotted the ball past
the oncoming Stortford keeper.
Slough had the better of the first half but they were poor for
most of the second. Again Bishops Stortford equalised in similar
fashion to which the first goal was scored, again it originated from
poor defending. That equalising goal was a wake-up call for the
Rebels who then stepped up a gear for the rest of the match.
Slough had a couple of good chances after that. The first was
when Paul Barrowcliff ran
past a number of defenders and hit the ball into the area but his
shot/cross was blocked by the goalkeeper. The second was when Ryan
Spencer headed wide when it would have been easier to finish the
game off and score.
The replay will be played at Woodside Park on Tuesday 4th
November with a 7:45 PM kick-off.
