The Report
Slough Town extended their recent run of good form with this 3-1 win at local rivals Staines Town. It wasn't just our geographical location that made Staines our near rivals, it was the fact that at the start of the day Staines were in 5th place and only 3 points ahead of us that made it a top-of-the-table six-pointer.

Tony Boot (pictured left) opened the scoring with only six minutes on the clock when he fired the ball high past the goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area, leaving Staines' 'keeper with no chance.

The ever reliable Ian Hodges doubled Slough's lead when he hooked the ball past their keeper from a cross from Veli Hakki.

Midway through the first-half there was a major punch-up involving virtually every single player on the pitch excluding the two goalkeepers. It seemed that the referee thought that it was only Wilkinson (below right) and Hakki that were involved, the referee had a word with Wilkinson while Hakki got booked.

Slough put the game beyond doubt when Ian Hodges fired a powerful and accurate header into the bottom corner of the net with about 70 minutes gone.

With five minutes to go the referee awarded Staines a controversial penalty. Staines cooly hit the ball high into the top left corner with Alan Foster well beaten for a goal that Staines barely deserved.

Considring that Staines had a doubtful penalty given, Slough had an obvious penllty not given when one of Staines defenders pulled Ian Hodges down in the box.
