Slough Town travelled to Leatherhead in search of another three
points to help them in their push for a top-six finish. The Rebels
went into half-time three goals up, but a Leatherhead fight-back in
the second-half went unrewarded as Slough took the points.
Rebels dominated the first-half and could have gone into half-time 5
goals to the good, but it was just the three, Haddow, Hodges
(pictured left) and Moller getting the goals.
Alex Haddow put us ahead on 20 minutes when he hit a free-kick
straight at the wall, but slammed home the rebound.
Ian Hodges doubled our lead when a goalbound effort from Tony
Boot (pictured below right) was cleared off the line by a
Leatherhead defender, only for Ian Hodges to fire home a header from
the resulting corner.
third came when a mix-up in the Leatherhead penalty area resulted in
Rebels defender Martin Moller (playing his second game back in the
first-team), fired the ball into the net.
Having gone into half-time on a high, a relaxed Rebels side
allowed Leatherhead to control the second-half.
Leatherhead pulled on back when McKay fired the ball into the net
from about 25 yards out and Terry got the Tanners' second and set
the game up for an interesting finish, but it was a deserved victory
for the Rebels in the end, mainly down to our comprehensive and
dominant first-half performance.
