Eddie Denton gave a debut to striker Matt Murphy who has joined the Rebes from Ford Sports.
Slough started the match the brighter of the
two sides, and immediately went on the attack. Ian Hodges headed
over the bar from a cross in the 2nd minute.
On 15 minutes Hodges won a corner. Glen Harris took it but the
resulting shot was cleared off the line.
About 10 minutes later a Salisbury forward beat the Slough
defence, turned on the run and shot. Whincup, was was moving the
other way changed direction abruptly and made a great save, diving
low to his left.

opening the scoring when his shot smacked the upright and rebounded
