The Report
Eddie Denton gave a debut to striker Matt Murphy who has joined the Rebes from Ford Sports.

Slough started the match the brighter of the two sides, and immediately went on the attack. Ian Hodges headed over the bar from a cross in the 2nd minute.

On 15 minutes Hodges won a corner. Glen Harris took it but the resulting shot was cleared off the line.

About 10 minutes later a Salisbury forward beat the Slough defence, turned on the run and shot. Whincup, was was moving the other way changed direction abruptly and made a great save, diving low to his left.

With 10 minutes of the first-half to go, Shepperd came close to opening the scoring when his shot smacked the upright and rebounded to safety following a Glen Harris free-kick.

Half-Time score: 0-0

With about 8 minutes of the second-half played, Alex Haddow ran through the Salisbury defence and forced a save from the goalkeeper. Martin Moller headed home the resulting corner.

Barely 5 minutes later Matt Murphy had a good chance to double Slough's lead when Harris beat a defender down the right and threaded a through ball to him, but Murphy's shot when horribly over.

With 20 minutes remaining Metcalfe almost gifted Salisbury an equaliser when a terrible back-pass forced Jake Whincup to tackle the Salisbury forward with his feet.

Slough rarely threatened after that and although Salisbury created a few half-chances, they didn't test Jake Whincup in the Slough goal.
