It was the Rebels who were appling the early poressure to George
Borg's Braintree Town who were unbeaten before today. With only 10
minutes on the clock Ian Hodges headed a Josias Carbon cross
straight at the 'keeper.
Three minutes later a Braintree free-kick
on the edge of the box was blasted through the wall but Jake Whincup
managed to punch the ball away.
Barely a minute later Slough opened the scoring when Ian Hodges
beat two defenders down the right wing and crossed the ball to
Josias Carbon to fire home from inside the penalty area.
13 minutes later Glen Harris came close to doubling Slough's lead
but he fired narrowly wide following a free-kick.
On 35 minutes Matt Murphy opened his goal-scoring account when
James Saulsbury played a beautiful ball into the area for Matt
Murphy to hit the ball past the 'keeper.
Murphy managed to net another goal before half-time. With 2
minutes to go before the interval, he smacked the ball into the goal
from close range.
Half-Time score: 3-0 to Slough
Because of the heat, play slowed down significantly during the
second-half. There isn't much to write about, Wilkinson was subbed
with Spencer replacing him on 75 minutes, 10 minutes later Danny
Steer and matt Miller came on at the expense of Alex Haddow and Matt
Murphy. Braintree didn't threaten at all during the second-half and
the game drifted out into an easy win for Slough.
