Town pulled off one of the shocks of the FA Cup 1st round by beating
League One side Walsall in front of BBC cameras at Stag Meadow.
Walsall started by putting the Rebels defence under a lot of
pressure. New 'keeper Shaun Allaway made some good saves early on,
including one from former Arsenal and England star Paul Merson, to
keep the scores level.
began to come back into the game and took the lead on 24 minutes
through Ian Hodges. Ryan Spencer crossed the ball and Ian Hodges
tapped it round the 'keeper to put the Rebels one up.
This lead lasted only 8 minutes. Allaway pulled off another good
save from a Walsall forward, but unfortunately only parried it away,
right at Darren Wrack who headed the Saddlers level with just over
half an hour gone.

Walsall set about to try and avoid an upset, but without success.
The Rebels defence held firm and denied Walsall any great

found Glen Harris who saw his first shot blocked by the 'keeper but
his second fly into the net.
