On Slough's return to league action for almost a month, they
missed the chance to climb back up the table despite taking the lead
against high flying Worthing at Stag Meadow.
Slough made a
flying start and took the lead after only 5 minutes. Ryan Spencer
set up Ian Hodges in the area to score from close range.
Slough continued like this for the next 5 minutes but failed to
keep up the momentum after that and Worthing started to come back
into the game. They mustered their first shot of the match, which
Allaway easily saved.
Just before half-time the injured Ryan Spencer was replaced by
Half-time: Slough Town 1-0 Worthing
Slough were on the back foot for most of the second half, and
didn't really start to threaten Worthing's goal again until after
they had equalised.
Unmarked Worthing substitute Sam Francis capitalised on Slough's
defending and headed in a corner with six minutes remaining.
Worthing could have stolen the game right at the death. It was
Sam Francis again whose free-kick went just inches wide of the goal.
