Rebels (Slough) 1-1 Rebels (Worthing)

Rebels brought back down to earth
by Nathan on 22/11/2004

Slough's first league game in almost a month saw Worthing score a late equaliser to snatch a point.

The Report
On Slough's return to league action for almost a month, they missed the chance to climb back up the table despite taking the lead against high flying Worthing at Stag Meadow.

Slough made a flying start and took the lead after only 5 minutes. Ryan Spencer set up Ian Hodges in the area to score from close range.

Slough continued like this for the next 5 minutes but failed to keep up the momentum after that and Worthing started to come back into the game. They mustered their first shot of the match, which Allaway easily saved.

Just before half-time the injured Ryan Spencer was replaced by Danny Steer.

Half-time: Slough Town 1-0 Worthing

Slough were on the back foot for most of the second half, and didn't really start to threaten Worthing's goal again until after they had equalised.

Unmarked Worthing substitute Sam Francis capitalised on Slough's defending and headed in a corner with six minutes remaining.

Worthing could have stolen the game right at the death. It was Sam Francis again whose free-kick went just inches wide of the goal.
