The Report
On former Rebels manager Steve Browne's return to the club, Slough Town showed why they are better than the league table suggests by out-playing Dover for the best part of 90 minutes.

Dover could have and probably should have taken the lead after only 2 minutes, when a header from a corner came off the underside of the crossbar, although some people say that the bal was at least 1 foot over the line! Slough then broke away from their area, Ian Hodges gave the ball to Alex Haddow who ran into the area and slotted the ball past former Rebels 'keeper Dominique Jean-Zepherin.

Slough doubled their lead after 22 minutes when a Alex Haddow long throw-in reaches defender Michael Murphy, whose shot went straight through a crowded penalty area and under Jean-Jepherin's body.

Half-time: Slough Town 2-0 Dover Athletic

With ten minutes of the second half gone, Slough made their lead even more comfortable when a Glen Harris cross from the right wing was deflected off a defender and fell to the perfect height for the oncoming Ian Hodges to header the ball in.

The Rebels had a penalty appeal turned down by the referee when Josias Carbon was pushed down in the box.

With one hour gone, Dover were awarded a penalty for a foul on one of their forwards. Rebels goalkeeper saved the penalty and the poorly taken rebound.

Five minutes later, Ian Hodges was booked for taking down one of Dovers players with a sliding tackle.

Dover pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining when a long ball upfield wasn't cleared properly and it fell to a Dover forward who blasted the ball past Shaun Allaway and into the net.

Ian Hodges should have made the win secure when he was put through following a long ball, but he miss controlled the ball and his shot went wide.

Slough fans now had reason to panic because their team had switched off. Dover were now dominating the game, and they gave themselves a glimmer of hope when Armstrong headed in a cross at the far post.

After the eight odd minutes the referee added on at the end, Slough fans went home relieved that their team had held on for three points.
