Rebels beat Cheshunt in Bryco Cup
by Nathan on 12/01/2005

Slough Town progressed in this seasons Bryco League cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cheshunt at Stag Meadow on Tuesday night.

Slough Town

Matt Murphy (1-0)

Bryco League Cup 3rd Round
Stag Meadow
Tuesday 11th January 2005
The Report
The Rebels maintained their excellent record in cup competitions this season with a victory over league rivals Cheshunt.

Eddie Denton decided to rest several key players ahead of our FA Trophy tie against Hendon at the weekend, with Veli Hakki, Nick Gyoury and Danny Steer all returning to the starting line-up in place of Steve Daly, Glen Harris and Josias Carbon.

Slough should have wrapped up the game long before they eventually did in the 90th minute. Matt Murphy hit the post no fewer than three times during the course of the match, with Ian Hodges missing an open goal when he headed the ball against the crossbar with an open goal to aim for shortly before half-time.

The Rebels booked their place in the fourth round when an Ian Hodges shot was fumbled by their 'keeper, for Matt Murphy to fire home from close range, sparking 'mass celebrations' from the Slough fans behind the goal.
