Billericay, without their 3 leading scorers in the starting line up
apart with some clinical finishing, ending up 6-0 winners. Even
though it could easily have been more, somehow this wasn't a
particularly bad performance. On the day it all went right for
Billericay who are without doubt a very good team. Slough should
have scored at least twice, with Matt Murphy being guilty of missing
2 easy chances, and Seedel also missing some half chances.
10 minutes Slough were under pressure from some good crosses, with a
goal line clearance and a good Parkin save. The pressure ended with
a good pass to Armstrong who slotted home. 10 minutes later it was
2-0 after Michael Murphy was disposed near the area, with Wareham
receiving the pass to score. A minute later Matt Murphy wasted a
sitter, shooting straight at the keeper when in acres of space and
only 10 metres out. Soon after Seedel finished poorly after good
work. It could easily have been 2-2 and game on.
Instead, after 37 minutes Dormer was unmarked to meet a cross.
3-0. Poor defending. the frustration showed with Saulsbury getting a
Yellow for unnecessarily kicking the ball away right in front of the
ref. The half finished with Slough showing effort, but no shape.
4 minutes into the 2nd half Matt Murphy headed wide from 3 foot,
when he should have scored. It became 4-0 after 53 when a good
passing move opened the Slough defence for Armstrong's second. He
added 2 more in the next 15 minutes with Slough's defence
stationary. Slough too had chances with Murphy and Seedel both
The game petered out, with Slough fans making much more noise
than the stiffs Billericay brought with them. Why is it that the
teams with no fans are at the top of the league?
Eddie's comment on this one might be interesting, but somehow it
felt nowhere near as bad as Kingstonian. Billericay's finishing was
clinical, while we had chances and fluffed them.
