Rebels opened their pre-season campaign with a comfortable win at
near neighbours Burnham and a reunion with three former players:
Danny Honey, Ryan Williams (pictured left) and Matt Miller .
many of last seasons squad leaving, the Slough team included a
number of reserve players and trialists including Tyrone Daly,
Alan Larve, Callum Coull and new signing Andy
didn't have to wait long to score their first goal of the new season
as in the 5th minute, Glen Harris (pictured right) lobbed the ball
over former Rebels goalkeeper Danny Honey from inside the area.
The lead lasted only 10 minutes at Jon Horsted rose above the
Slough defence missing Michael Murphy and James Saulsbury to put the
ball into the far corner for the equaliser.
Rebels continued to create chances, with a Johnny Mason free-kick
narrowly missing the far post before Matt Miller (pictured left) put
the ball in the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside.
about 20 minutes of the second half gone Slough took the lead
following a goalmouth scramble with Ian Hodges (pictured right) the
scorer after the ball has ricocheted off his shin-pad.
Slough could have grabbed a third late on with Johnny Mason
forcing Honey into a save at the near post, but Burnham could also
have grabbed a second equaliser, but Ryan Williams somehow managed
to head the ball wide of the far post from only a few yards out.
