The Report
Another hard match loomed for Slough who were without on loan defender Woodruffe. The day was scorching, but would it produce a scorching game?

Well, the first half certainly wasn't, Slough weren't in it. At stages it was embarrassing to watch, and soon after the half way stage Slough were 3-0 down. Sweet revenge for Hampton who were beaten by Slough in the Bryco cup final last season, and they were enjoying it. as Hampton had 2 more goals disallowed, going in 3-0 down at half time there seemed little hope as we had barely reached the half way line.

These poor performances happen occasionally, and this was on a par with Hampton 2 years ago, or the defeat at Chesham in the relegation season. There was no recovery in those performances, but surprisingly Slough made a fight of it in the second half, following the introduction of Glen Harris. It wasn't that he played brilliantly, but everyone else seemed when he came on. Out of nowhere, passes were finding the player, and although Slough didn't dominate, they were the better side in the second half, though Hampton always threatened on the break. Good and determined work by Hodges in the area (why doesn't someone shoot from outside the 6 yard line?), gave Seedel a knock in, and shortly after the reverse happened with Seedel setting up Hodges. 3-2 and Slough pressed, coming close through Hodges, but it would have been robbery if we'd got a point after the first half performance. We lost this one ourselves, but showed that we can, at times, play well.
