East Thurrock 3-2 Rebels

Rebels lose in Essex, again
by Nathan on 22/09/2005

A brave second-half comeback went unrewarded as former Rebels striker Tony Boot scored the winner after Steve Daly and Josias Carbon had eliminated the hosts 2-0 half-time lead.

The Report
A East Thurrock side, including several former Slough players, including Tony Boot, Dean Palmer, Byron Bubb (pictured left) and Dean Chandler, outperformed a Rebels side in what was yet another bad night in Essex.

Steve West opened the scoring for the hosts with a long-range free-kick and Rebels defender Steve Daly inadvertently doubled their lead whilst trying to clear a through ball into the area.

Having ailed to force the East Thurrock 'keeper to make a decent save during the first half, they scored two goals within five minutes of each other. Steve Daly (pictured right) made up for his earlier error by headed in Michael Alexis' cross

Just minutes afterwards, Christian Metcalfe's volley was well saved but Josias Carbon was on hand to bury the rebound.

But former Rebels player Tony Boot spoilt the Rebels fightback, after bad defending allowed him to lob Michael Parkin for the hosts third goal and the match.
