A seriously under strength Slough visited bogey side
Walton's Stompond Lane facing a difficult task. We usually lose
there even if the omens are good, and with Walton in a play off
position, they weren't.
The Rebels started brightly, and edged the first
half, keeping Walton to long range efforts. Neither side had much in
the way of clear chances, and it took a poor Walton clearance to
break the stalemate. West picked up the loose ball, drifted into the
box, and put in an accurate pass for Harris.
In the second half Walton huffed and puffed but
created little. What they did come up with was ably dealt with by
Slough's defence, with Avery and Masters both outstanding. Walton
did get a lucky penalty, but justice was done as Masters saved with
his feet. It wasn't all one way as Slough had a Hodges goal
disallowed for offside, and Woodruffe did a cameo run that deserved
more. 3 points, job done. If this away form keeps up I might risk a
cold Tuesday night in Essex!!
