Bright, windy conditions saw Slough steal a point
they barely deserved, even though they will be disappointed they
didn't somehow come away with all 3.
The first half was fairly even, though perhaps
Slough shaded it, Hodges hitting the bar verses a goal line
clearance at the other end. The second half seemed like one way
traffic, with Hendon in control, and Slough's midfield at times non
existent. Keeper Masters kept the rebels in the match with a series
of fine saves that easily made him the MOTM. Hendon failed to
capitalise on their possession, and with 15 minutes McCleary latched
onto a nod on from Hodges for a class goal, to put Slough ahead
against the run of play.
Slough defended the lead against sustained Hendon
pressure, and it was no surprise when the home team equalised after
89 minutes, Hunt heading in a goal following a header in to the
area. To have got all 3 points would have been daylight robbery.
This was the Rebels final visit to Claremont Rd, as
next season Hendon ground share, their current ground having been
sold for housing. Lets hope they find a new permanent home soon.
