The Rebels were on the verge of prolonging Braintree's inevitable
title win and completing the league double over the Essex side, but
a 2nd half Alex Revell brace meant that that wasn't to be.
Glen Harris (pictured right) had given Slough a surprise lead when
he volleyed past the 'keeper on the rebound.
From then on the Rebels had to absorb alot of pressure, with the
defence keeping the home side at bay, although Michael Parkin
(pictured below left) had to pull off a good save minutes before
half-time, tipping the ball just over the bar from Parameter's
From then on it was all Braintree. It was only a matter of time
before the home side got the equaliser, James Hawes going close just
after the restart.
Revell made up for an earlier miss by putting the leaders back on
level terms just 5 minutes into the second half. Revell found space
down the right wing and calmly slotted the ball past Michael Parkin.
It took another 15 minutes for Braintree to take the lead, when
it looked as if the Rebels might hold on for a point. Leigh Mason
had just driven the ball over the bar following a corner, Braintree
broke free from the resulting goal kick and Alex Revell found the
net off the post to make the score 2-1.
Slough's best chance of an equaliser came in the dying moments of
the game, but Mark West's shot went straight at goalkeeper Danny
