Bromley 4-0 Rebels

Bromley thump lackluster Rebels
by Ted on 03/09/2006

Bromley cruised to a comfortable 4-0 win over a sorry looking Slough side on Saturday.

The Report
Slough Town crashed to a 4-0 defeat at a windy Hayes Lane, with the performance being noticeably worse than the result.

Both sides started slowly, and initially Slough had some possession and might have netted from a goalmouth scramble, but the slide started soon after Alexis was booked, seemingly rather harshly. Bromley's Nick McDonnell should have opened the scoring when he rounded Drake, but somehow missed an open goal, much to the Slough fans amusement. It was the last time they laughed though as soon after Bromley took the lead after 28 minutes---Drake came for a corner and missed it, allowing Tutu Henriques an soft goal. Shortly before half time, Drake couldn't hold a free kick and Henriques doubled his and Bromley's score. Just before half time Drake redeemed himself somewhat with a fine save from a short range shot.

The second half was nearly all Bromley, Slough producing occasional raids which nearly always ended with a cut in to cross to the far post. Since Bromley's defenders were the both skilled and large, our short forwards were never in with a chance. Oh for someone willing and capable of going for the bye line.

Bromley missed a couple of half chances, before the goal of the match came on the hour when Williams, allowed plenty of space, skilfully curled a beauty from 25 yards out. By now too many Slough players clearly did not want the ball, and Bromley were able to easily stroll it. A final goal came shortly before the end, but I'd given up watching by then so I've no idea what happened. Its one thing to be beaten, even hammered, such things happen, but this performance (and worse still, attitude, by some players) was unacceptable.
