The Rebels good recent record in the
Isthmian League Cup will not be extended into this year as
Slough caved in during the second half to lose 4-0 at home to
"local rivals" Ashford Town (Mx).
Slough actually started quite
promisingly with an early shot from Terry Davies, making his
home debut in attack, just missing the far post.
Lee Passmore capitalised on a
defensive mix-up between Jamie Jarvis and Marc Leach to lay off
Gavin Smith who put the visitors 1-0 up.
Slough couldn't capitalise on the
pressure they had, and it came as no surprise when Ashford
scored with their first attempt of the second half.
Ricky Wellard fired a free-kick
through the wall into the bottom corner of the net.
That was ultimately the Rebels
"downfall", as from then on they offered very little.
Gavin scored his second of then
night as a close range shot was bundled into then net by Kieron
Stuart Lake completed Ashford's
victory as he was left with the simplest of tap ins from a
left-wing cross that beat Kieron Drake.
