Slough will have the honour of being bottom at Christmas after being thrashed at Chelmsford, who end the day top of the table.

Down to the bare bones, Slough fought hard to but to no avail and were simply no match against a squad consisting mostly of players who spent last season in the Nationwide Conference.

Slough managed the first of only two efforts on target during the first half through a Steve Daly header that caused City 'keeper Richard McKinney no trouble.

Slough somehow managed to hold on as Chelmsford missed chances through Ricky Holmes, Mario Noto and Jeff Minton before Kezie Ibe managed to break the deadlock as he placed a shot beyond the reach of debutant on-loan goalkeeper Lee Farrow.

The hosts siege on the Slough goal did not end there, with Darron Wilkinson deflecting a Dwain Clarke shot wide and Ricky Holmes missing another chance, hitting the post instead of the back of the net.

Matt Miller missed Slough's only other first half chance as shot straight at the goalkeeper after being put through.

The second half continued in the same fashion as the hosts continues to miss more chances whilst shutting out any attacking threat.

Jeff Minton eventually doubled Chelmsford's lead as he deflected Ibe's shot into the net from close range. However, Kezie Ibe got his second with a well hit shot from the edge of the area, before Stuart Ainsely capitalised on Lee Farrows' fumble in the area to make it 4-0.

Jason Hallet rounded Lee Farrow in the 90th minute and completed the scoring.
