Slough looked on course for their 8th straight league defeat at half-time, but came out for the second half a different side and deservedly won all three points against a Heybridge side on a run of 4 straight defeats.

It all seemed as if was going to be the same old story as Danny Bloomfield broke free of the Slough defence and slotted past the impressive Jamie Jackson to give the Essex side the lead after only 20 minutes, and it looked very much like it was going to be more but luckily for Slough, Bloomfield and Jolly both missed chances to increase the lead and it stayed 1-0 until half-time.

There was an element of overdue luck for the Rebels as they equalised soon after the restart. Terry Davies' shot took a deflection past Danny Gay in the Heybridge goal.

This gave Slough a boost in confidence, and they began to bombard the home side with attack after attack, and, unlike previous games, Slough's pressure reaped its rewards as Matt Miller won the ball off Ian Wiles and slotted the ball past Gay to give Slough a surprising but deserved lead.

The Rebels were now riding high, and the defence were more than able to cope with what Heybridge had to offer.

The home side briefly drew level when Gary Burrell met Ian Cousins' cross, but Terry Davies got with the winner after he beat Danny Gay to the ball.

Despite a Heybridge onslaught in the dying minutes, the defence withstood all the pressure to earn a fantastic victory; their first in over three months.
