Despite starting the game sitting a the bottom of the league, Slough's new 'no frills' team continued to show that anything they lack in experience and skill, they make up for with commitment and attitude, and ended up scoring a last minute equaliser that takes them off the bottom place.

Slough showed first with a Terry Davies shot that Miller nearly latched on to. Worthing however soon fought back and in the first 20 minutes had a number of shots go close. Slough fought back for the remainder of the half, pressurising without creating clear cut chances. Miller did get the ball in the net, when he opportunistically took the ball from the Worthing keeper as he threw it up to kick it out. The well placed linesman waved for a foul, a harsh decision from where I stood. Miller was equally disappointed and his expressions of displeasure might easily have got him booked. Half chances continued at both ends, without either side being able to convert.

Scoreless at half time, whoever scored first seemed likely to win. Both sides started the second half positively, Slough keeper Jackson making a good save from a header, followed by Slough captain Daly having his header cleared off the Worthing line. A Davies shot for Slough was tipped around the post, countered by 2 Worthing shots going just wide.

After 72 minutes Worthing took the lead when Andrews met a cross at the far post to slide the ball in. Slough struggled to get back into the game as Worthing shut the game down. In the 4th minute of added time Slough won a free kick on the half way line. Slough's keeper Jackson floated the kick into the Worthing area, crowded with players from both sides. Worthing's hero, scorer Andrews, turned villain as he glanced the ball into his own net. Three seconds after the restart came the final whistle. It doesn't get much later than that.

Why is it that a last minute equaliser leaves you feeling like your team has won? It might only have been 1 point, but it felt like 3.

Although several players had very good games. Slough benefited most from a usual solid performance from their captain.
