A good display reaps no reward as the search for an away win continues.

The Report

Slough were unfortunate to continue their away loosing run after a particularly spirited second half performance.

Slough went behind within 5 minutes of the start as Uxbridge, having outpaced the Slough defence, cut the ball back to take a straightforward lead. Despite the poor start, Slough showed more spirit and commitment than they have for some considerable time, and the rest of the half was an even contest. Uxbridge increased their lead 5 minutes before half time from a similar cut back, this time from the other flank. This would normally be a cue for Slough to fold, but instead they hit back straight away, when Dave Barratt picked up a clearance and shot home.

Uxbridge nearly scored in the opening few minutes of the second half, but the rest of the game saw Uxbridge under the cosh, with Slough putting on a display that fans had nearly forgotten was possible. Two power headers from Murphy corners were cleared off the line, and Barratt nearly scored what would have been a strong contender for goal of the season with an extremely powerful lob from the by line which hit the inside of the post. Blocked shots, good saves and goalmouth melees added to the pressure, but it was not Slough’s day for the points that their teamwork deserved.

Some more performances with this level of desire, commitment and skill please!

RebelsOnline Man of the Match

Abbey Nsubuga

Whilst several players had very good games (especially Woodruffe and Barratt), Abbey Nsubuga shades it purely for working so hard as the lone striker.
