Experienced manager Derek
Sweetman took over the reigns as Slough manager following
the resignation of Mark Betts and Richard Barnard on 15th
March 2008, proclaiming that Slough Town had "eight cup
finals" in order to avoid relegation.
Derek Sweetman, who originally
joined the Rebels from Marlow during the late 1970's, returned to English Football in
February 2006 as Assistant Manager at Burnham after
spending a year living in France.
Sweetman has vast amounts of
experience, having been Assistant Manager at Maidenhead
United, Burnham and Marlow, where he was also Manager. He was
joint manager of Egham Town during the 1997/98 season along
with current Rebels coach Steve Roberts, as well as working
with Roberts at Windsor & Eton when Sweetman was the Reserve
Team Manager in 1989/90.
Sweetman started his football
career as an apprentice at Southampton, and has also played
for Windsor & Eton, Marlow and Slough Town. Derek holds a
UEFA "B" coaching licence.
