Despite leading 3-2
at half time, and despite an 88th minute equaliser from James
Pritchard, the Rebels couldn't hold onto a replay, and crashed out
of the FA Trophy at the first hurdle.
got off to the worst possible start as Jemel Johnson fired home
after only four minutes, but within 10 minutes the game had been
turned upside down. First, Yashwa Romeo capitalised on a poor back
pass to fire past the 'keeper, and shortly afterwards Danny Jordan
(pictured left) found himself in acres of space inside the box,
allowing him to turn on the ball and slam the ball into the bottom
The Rebels then began to sit back a
little and Thatcham began to dominate the match, with Ashley Vine
and Jemel Johnson both going close for the home side before Dave
Asker levelled with just under half an hour gone as questionable
defending left him unmarked to allow him to fire past Jamie Jackson
into the top corner.
But before half-time Slough had regained
the lead as Yashwa Romeo fired through the penalty area from outside
the box into the top right corner following James Pritchard's
took 25 minutes for the second half to produce a goal, and yet again
it came from poor Slough
defending. Adam Durrant (pictured right) gave away a needless
free-kick down the left flank for Gareth Thomas unmarked inside the
box to head home.
The home side quickly took the lead,
leaving the Rebels barely enough time to recover from Thatcham's
second equaliser. Jemel Johnson netted his second of the game as he
converted Barry Elmore's cross.
manager Derek Sweetman introduced Glen Harris (pictured left) and
Byron Bubb in an attempt to get back into the game, not been
dictated by the home side with the Rebels looking rather sorry for
themselves. Despite this however, the Rebels could muster little
more than a couple of half-chances and speculative long-range shots.
little progress been made, there was a huge stroke of luck
concerning Slough's fourth goal
as a loose ball inside the area was met by James Pritchard (pictured

replay imminent, the Rebels still failed to hold onto it as yet more
poor defending allowed Ashley Vine, unmarked inside the box, to head
home off the crossbar in injury time.
