deservedly went through to the Semi-Finals of the Berks and Bucks
Cup tonight after a lacklustre performance from the Rebels.
a game of few chances, very little happened during the opening 45
minutes, with Matthew Platt's shot forcing a good save from ex-Rebel
Kieron Drake (pictured right) at the near post being the closest Slough came to a
goal. The home side almost took the lead on the stroke of half-time,
but a long range shot dipped narrowly over Jamie Jackson's crossbar.
During the second half, the game
continued in similar style, with Marlow always looking more likely
to score and Slough huffing and puffing to no effect. Jamie Jackson
was called into action on a couple of occasions for one-on-one's,
and Marlow somehow managed to miss an open goal with Jackson well
Ryan Fenton's cross/shot flew
dangerously by the far post, and Yashwa Romeo scuffed a shot
straight at Kieron Drake, but it was the home side who went ahead
after 73 minutes when Jon Case turned and then wrong-footed his
marker to rocket a shot past Jamie Jackson into the top left corner
from 20 yards.
The remainder of the game was taken
up by Marlow's efforts to get a second goal, with the Rebels never
looking as though they would get back into the match, with Byron
Bubb's scuffed 20 yard effort that ended up nearer to the corner flag
than the goal being Slough's best chance.
This was a match won by a moment of
brilliance from Marlow's Jon Case, but otherwise this was very drab.
