At the third attempt following two
cancellations, the Rebels played Gosport Borough in what turned out
to be a typical end of season game.
Pride
may have been the only thing at stake, but it meant a hell of a lot
more to veteran forward
"super-sub" 39-year old Roy Gumbs (pictured right), who bagged only
his second goal in a Slough Town shirt to give Slough all three
points.
The goalkeeper tipped Yashwa Romeo's
attempted lob narrowly over the bar after only 2 minutes.
Danny Jordan linked up well with Ryan
Fenton to set Fenton through on goal to blast the ball into the
bottom corner to open the scoring after 17 minutes.
Roy Gumbs missed the target having
been set up by Yashwa Romeo but the next goal came for the visitors
as Graham Lindsey blasted the ball past Jamie Jackson form inside
the area.
Slough
continued to dictate play and were rewarded after an hour when
Yashwa Romeo (pictured left) saw his shot blocked, Simon Sweeney's
rebound well saved and Roy Gumb's close range header saw the ball
over the line.
Graham Lindsey was to waste a good
chance to deprive Slough of all three points by firing well wide of
the goal, but in the end it was a deserved win for Slough. |
